Citrus bergamia is a native fruit from tropical Asia that is from the rutaceae family. The peel of the skin of the fruit is cold pressed to release the incredible virtues from within. It is widely cultivated in Calabria Italy where we import it from. Bergamot from Calibria is always s of the highest quality with an exceptional fragrance appealing to the senses. The high percentage of the bergaptene component makes this extremely phytotoxic if applied neat onto the skin and exposed to the sun. I never thought that I would offer the bergapaten free essential oil as I usually prefer the essential oil untampered with, however to my amazement and delight this version is fabulous. This version allows Bergamot essential oil to be used in skin and hair care formulations without concern for phototoxicity from exposure to the sun. We are now offering both types that are from Calibria. I still recommend using this essential oil and all others in a carrier base on the skin. Like attracts like; this potent aromatic essential oil brings in the cheerful energy of the Sun. Like the Sun it is powerful and must be regarded and employed with respect in its usage. Bergamot is known to assist in regulating and balancing the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems, reducing stress and therefore uplifting the Spirit.
